Overview

This is a personal journal written and maintained by an individual in New Zealand. It exists purely for the purpose of sharing personal reflections on human connection. There is no commercial purpose behind this site, no products for sale, and no organisation involved.

Because the site is designed to be as private as possible for its readers, very little data is gathered about anyone who visits. The sections below describe what is and is not collected, and why.

What data is collected

This site itself collects no personal data intentionally. There are no forms, no newsletter sign-ups, no login systems, and no comment sections. You cannot submit information here even if you wanted to.

However, like any website, serving these pages requires a server. That server — operated by a third-party hosting provider — may automatically log certain technical information when a request is made to it. This can include:

• Your IP address (assigned by your internet provider)
• The date and time of your visit
• The page or file requested
• The browser type and operating system you are using
• The referring URL, if you arrived from another site

This information is used by the hosting provider for technical security and server health purposes. I do not access it for tracking individual visitors. I do not combine it with any other data. I have no interest in knowing who you are.

Cookies

This site does not deliberately set any cookies. There are no analytics scripts, no advertising pixels, no tracking technologies embedded in these pages by design.

Your browser may store temporary session data as part of its normal operation — this is standard browser behaviour and unrelated to any action by this site. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.

The hosting provider may set technical cookies. Consult their own privacy documentation if you need full details of that.

Third parties

These pages load typefaces from a font hosting service. This is a technical necessity for the design to render correctly. When your browser requests a font file, the font service may log your IP address and browser type — this is standard for any web-hosted resource.

Beyond that, there are no third-party scripts, trackers, analytics tools, or social media widgets embedded in these pages. No data about your reading is shared with any external party by design.

Younger readers

This blog is written for adult readers. The content addresses themes of adult life — long-term partnership, friendship, family, grief, and emotional complexity. It is not directed at children under 16, and no data is knowingly collected from anyone under that age.

If you are a young person who has stumbled here, the writing may still resonate — human connection is not exclusively an adult concern — but the perspective is drawn from adult experience.
